- SORCERER'S ORB - Part 1
- (Satomi Hakkenden-Dai Ichibu)

The fate of the Satomi Clan lies in the
hands of 8 warriors of prophecy, each of whom were born with a crystal
orb. The monk,
Daisuke, embarks on a journey to find these warriors and reunite the 8
orbs they carry so that they may fulfill their destiny. The original
story was the signature work of Edo period author TAKZAWA Bakin, called
“Nanso Satomi Hakkenden”. It was first published nearly 200 years ago in
1815. “Nanso” in the title refers to an area that is today southern
Chiba Prefecture. Takizawa’s tale combines stories of the Satomi Clan,
an actual family that controlled an area centered in southern Chiba from
about 1450 until the early Edo period, with elements from the Chinese
story known as “Suikoden.” “Nanso Satomi Hakkenden” is a master-work
that took Takizawa 106 volumes and 28 years to complete.

TEKKA DAIMYO
(Lord Of Steel
Heart)
One of Toei Pictures best Warlord
epics, this film tells the story of GOTO Matabei, a good-natured
retainer who enjoys his saké, while still being a master of military
strategy. Featuring a bravado performance by ICHIKAWA Utaemon as Matabei and
strong support from WAKAYAMA Tomisaburo and the rest of the Toei
all-stars, this is an excellent example of the best that historical
epics can be. After TOKUGAWA Ieyasu defeated the remnants of the
Toyotomi faction at the Battle of Osaka Castle, he seeks to test the
loyalty of his retainers. When Matabei speaks his mind at Sunpu Castle, it causes a breathtaking
scene as the tension rises. Utaemon, while best known for his
swordfighting scenes always preferred to use his ability as an actor,
with a steely gaze to melt down his opponents. A brilliant motion
picture, this is a real classic!

ISSHIN TASUKE WORLD IN DANGER
(Isshin Tasuke Tenka no Ichi Daiji)

This is the second film in the Issin Tasuke series starring Nakamurai Kinnosuke. The first film was "Edo no Meibutsu Otoko Isshin Tasuke", and it became a huge hit.
Kinnosuke was immediately asked to do a sequel, however, he was quite reluctant to agree. He was the type to take every role very seriously, so he was very cautious. He did, in fact, learn how to handle the fishmonger's knife, although it took a while, as they wasted 16 sea breams before he got it right. There are 5 films in the series, which proved that Kinnosuke who had grown up in the Kabuki world before moving on to the 'handsome swordsman type' in films could also be cast as 'a cheeful handsome guy who could also do comedy'.
